I strongly believe that high quality conscious documentaries have the power to change minds and hearts. Filmmaking has been the most impactful storytelling format in my experience. I shared late last year two gender stereotypes documentary all fathers must watch. The Great American lie is the third installment of a trilogy created by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Founder of The Representation project. Miss Representation looked at the ways limiting gender norms negatively affect girls and women. The Mask You Live In, exposed how those same norms also harm boys and men. The Great American Lie will complete the story by examining the effect of these limiting gender norms on society.

The Great American Lie exposes the Roots and consequences of Patriarchy
Patriarchy runs helluva deep. This is stunning to realize how much American society value attributes that are considered masculine. This realization came to me gradually in life. While the birth of my daughter played a major role in my change of heart, movies like and thinkers such as George Carlin, made me explore the dark side of patriarchy as a cultural system.

A critical issue for American Society
I am convinced that American society needs a soul makeover today. A big part of the #Resist strategy should be focused on analyzing the roots of and the dramatic consequences of a patriarchal system. Now more than ever, all men should embrace the feminine rising. We must be better allies and better listener than ever.
